The Morning After
This morning I find myself caught between a number of different emotions: disappointment in America's choice for her next leader, pride in America slamming the door shut on her historical stains of bigotry and racial inequality, relief that elections are finally over, and hope that President-elect Obama might live up to some of the platitudes in his rhetoric while not being successful in some of his other goals.
As much as I did not want to see an Obama presidency, I realize now that he will soon hold the office of the President of the United States of America. That commands my respect and my support. That doesn't mean I have to agree with everything, or for that matter, anything, but it does require my respect, for both the office and the holder of the office.
Furthermore, as a Christian, it is my duty to pray fervently for Obama per 1 Timothy 2:1-4. So, while I was the most ardently against an Obama presidency, I will with commit to most ardently support him and the office with my prayers and respect.
Commentary
Nice summary of how I feel. Thanks!
As a Christian, I'm just relieved that that gun-grabbing adulterer McCain didn't win. Him and his running mate with an unwed mother as a daughter. What kind of example would that have set for children?
Absolutely shameful.
Bob Barr 2012.
@GodWarrior: Yikes. You don't sound very Christ-like in your language.
I'm also not a communist like Christ was. Nobody is perfect (save Him), as McCain and Palin so painfully reminded us these past months.
@GodWarrior: Dude, I don't know who you are and I expect you are just jerking my chain, but you really believe that, then you have a really missed what Jesus is all about. I don't see how you can biblically support your claims about Jesus being a communist.
Acts 2 verses 42, 44, and 45: "42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things in common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need."
Acts 4:32-37 "32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet."
You know, I really thought I could read someone's blog just for the nerdy bits… turns out I can't. Consider myself unsubscribed.
(This is not meant as an insult, you're obviously fee to publish whatever you like… and I choose not read your blog anymore, and I also choose to let you know why)
See ya, Timo!
